Nova Net Computer Lab Open to Public

 

The Nova Net Computer Lab located at the Union Academy Family Center is open Monday thru Friday from 9am - 6pm for the general public.  The lab is sponsored by the WorkNet Pinellas and offers individualized learning with a curriculum to increase learning and to assess interest for future employment. 

Components include: basic skill development, ESL, GED Preparation, FCAT preparation, middle school preparation, high school preparation, school-to-work preparation and post secondary preparation.

Education

CAP After School Program

A free after-school program for children in grades K-12.  Parents must attend a monthly parenting skills meeting.  Space is limited. Program includes the following benefits:

 

  • Individual Tutoring
  • Homework Assistance
  • Student of The Month Recognition

  • Honor Roll Recognition

Jump Start Algebra

 Jump Start Algebra is designed to give students a solid foundation in pre-Algebra, basic Algebra, and Basic Geometry. This is a six week course for students in grades 4-8. Call for the the date and time of the next session.

Keith Bergstrom Scholarships - These scholarship are in honor of a the late Tarpon Springs Police Chief, Keith Bergstrom. The Chief was very involved in youth activities.  Eligibility requirements include academic achievements and community service. Contact our office for an application.  (Scholarships are usually given in May or June of each year)

Minority Student Awards - Each year CAP honors the academic achievements of minority students in local schools.  This event is usually held the end of May or the beginning of June.  Students are referred to CAP by their respective teachers

 


Youth Clubs

CAP Youth Leadership Club - provides leadership, life skills, career exploration and personal development training for children ages 10-15.   Children older than 15 can be accepted but are considered senior leaders. Contact Ms. Mathis at (727) 934-5881 Ext. 0

 


Families

Family Night Out

Families are invited out for dinner, food for the soul, activities for kids and drawing. Program held every 4th Tuesday of every month.  Contact Julianna Day for more information at 934-5881.

 


Seniors

Co-sponsored

Neighborly Senior Services -Dining Program provides a nutritious lunch for seniors. There are  pre- lunch programs which include guest speakers, crafts, bingo, exercise, sing-a-longs and birthday celebrations.   Lunch is served every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10:30 -1:30 p.m.  Seniors must be 60 years of age or have a spouse 60 years or older.  Contact 934-5881 ext. 0 for more information.

 

 


 

Women

Women's Choice - Women, Family & Friends, Community Discussion Groups meet the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays from 6:30-8:00 pm at the Tarpon Springs Neighborhood Family Center.  Call Claudia McClain  or Julianna Day for more information at 934-5881
